Road Closure - Sunday, June 25
Vancouver Half Marathon

Members of the VPD Traffic Authority will be managing the road closures and crossings for the event. The officer located at Alma and W 2nd Ave has been instructed to facilitate vehicle access to the neighbourhood and the yacht club when it’s safe to do so between gaps in runners, so we’d recommend anyone needing access to the area to use that crossing point, approaching the crossing from 2nd Ave.

The VPD will do everything they can to reduce delays, but the busiest time period at that location will be from about 8:45am until 9:15am, so if it’s at all possible for your competitors to arrive prior to or after that time period that would greatly reduce any delays for them. The road does remain closed until around 9:45am, but after 9:15am the runners are much more spread out and the VPD are able to facilitate crossings more easily.

We did hear from the Jericho Sailing Centre earlier this week too and I suggested the following access route which you’re welcome to pass on to any competitors needing to collect their boats from that location.

A member of the VPD Traffic Authority will be located on NW Marine Drive at Belmont Ave and they’ve been instructed to facilitate road access to Jericho Park between gaps in runners. The best route to access this point would be taking W 4th Ave to Sasamat St or Tolmie St, then taking one of those roads north to Belmont Ave. NW Marine will be closed from around 7:30am until 9:30am, so the above detour options would be recommended during that time. The Traffic Authority will do their best to limit delays, but note that the busiest times in the area will be from around 8:30am until 9:00am.
